I always loved the story about Mandelson going into a fish & chip shop in his northern constituency, in order to burnish his man-of-the-people image, and having ordered his cod and chips, he spots a vat of mushy peas and adds, 'Oh, and I'll have some of that guacamole, as well, please.' I'm sure it's apocryphal, but it's funny, all the same.
