Labour need to think long and hard about their replacement for Miliband. This will involve accepting some unpalatable truths about their party and their campaign if they are to stand any chance of becoming electable in the foreseeable future. However, the performances on radio and TV of some of their leading contenders over the last few days do not bode well in this respect. They exhibited the same reluctance to accept the truth, the same evasion and twisting of questions so that you answer a different question from the one that was asked, even when a straight answer would not have been in any way damaging. They seem incapable of seeing that this is what infuriates people and prevents them from trusting a party that they otherwise might support.
