Whether or not the monarchy is a good thing or not, the justification for there being one is anachronistic codswallop:

"The divine right of kings or divine right is a political and religious doctrine of royal and political legitimacy. It asserts that a monarch is subject to no earthly authority, deriving the right to rule directly from the will of God." Wikipedia

Now the plebs might have swallowed this cock and bull in the dark ages, but history illustates that the lineage of the monarchy has taken many twists and turns due to wars, marriages of convenience, murder etc.. and has diddly squat to do with the will of God.

Isn't it about time that the legitamcy of the Royal Family was brought into the 21st century? I know, let's have a referendum!
