We shall have to agree to disagree.

A solicitor may take the job because a parent did the same job, so may a plumber, or a soldier, or many other jobs and professions - in each case one generation passes knowledge to the next.

Provided that, like our present Royal family, they are broadly good at the job, then passing on the experience and knowledge of how to do that job from generation to generation makes perfect sense. This applies in a system like ours where the head of state has no direct day-to-day role in running the country. It doesn't work so well where the head of state is also the head of government.
