I'm just old enough to remember Sir Alec Douglas-Hume, as he then was, using matchsticks to explain his economic policy. Risible though this was he won more seats than David Cameron ever won or is likely to win and nearly beat the much cleverer Harold Wilson. He was Scottish and sat for Kinross and West Perthshire. |
