We want to move our boxed gas meter from under the main bay window in our tiny front garden to under the side bay window, where it would be less obtrusive and leave more garden space. However, Transco (ie. the National Grid) are quoting £1500 plus for this adjustment, which would have to be paid upfront before their surveyor even arrived, and would be 'deducted from the final amount'. Transco themselves suggested that we try an independent gas piping operative, and as I'm having difficulty finding one I wondered if anyone else here has had the same problem and knows of any independent operatives. As ever, all suggestions gratefully received. |
