In my street, at least, a large proportion of the cars are residents', and only 2 or so of us moved our cars. I can't say why residents chose not to move their cars, except that possibly it is a reflection of the general attitude to unsolicited mail, ie to request not to receive it and ignore it en masse if received.
Only by chance did I open the brown envelope in question for street cleaning, because it was addressed to 'The Householder', a usually infallible indication that an estate agent is touting for custom. Not that I welcome junk mail, but the result of refusing to peruse unsolicited mail can be a kind of isolationism that can mean residents are also cut off from an understanding of the other developments that are happening around them and having an impact on their lives. |
