Simon, exactly. If you have a £9,000 watch, you don't take it to the gym and leave it in the locker. You are just asking for it to get nicked. Tough lesson.

I had a very expensive mountain bike some years ago, and I asked at the local bike shop if they had a really strong, unbreakable lock. They guy told me I was insane even to think of cycling it round Chiswick and leaving it locked up. It would get nicked, no matter what lock I put on it. He advised me instead of spending £200 on an expensive kevlar lock, buy a cheap £100 bike and use that for cycling round Chiswick.

Of course I ignored him (because I know everything). Bike was nicked within 2 weeks. Locked up with the unbreakable Kevlar lock, outside the Hogarth Club. Lesson learned.
