If there is blame to be apportioned in the case of the spaniel, it is certainly not attached to the dog, although of course, it is the dog who is suffering and will continue to suffer. Surely a prime example of why the dog should not have been left unattended in the first place, although they were mutiple problems that that owner listed that undoubtedly affected that dog. (If the owner is reading this, I am sorry that you did not reply to my PM; I hope that you have sought professional help for your dog) I wouldn't waste my time arguing whether this country or any other is a nation of dog "lovers" as it is sentiment and anthropomorphism that is that is often at the root of the problem. The person who considers themselves a dog lover can also be the person who is prepared to breed their dog when knowingly suffering from a congenital problem (vide syringomyelia et alia) or the person who is prepared to allow their dog to suffer from any number of clinical problems because they "don't like" going to the vet or because they are afraid of them having a GA. Does anyone have a reference for the R4 programme as I missed it?
