| As per previous posts, please register your dog with www.doglost.co.uk/, contact the animal warden, Dogs Trust, the Mayhew and Battersea etc etc. When will people learn not leave their dogs unattended? You can see here some stats on thefts: http://www.pettheft.co.uk/press.php It is also a welfare issue. Unless you consistently train your dog to understand that stay means you will return, he will be anxious when left alone; this a hard-wired response. leaving your dog alone in public means that you will not have any control over what happens to your dog when you are not there. It is unfortunately an everyday occurence to see dogs tied to lamposts, benches and cycle racks behaving in a stressed and anxious manner including dashing (the lead often being long) to lash out at passing dogs because they feel vulnerable when restricted. Not uncommonly, they are also tied on leads that enable them to stray into the road and get tangled. This was a puppy; he shouldn't have been expected to cope with being left alone like this and, being a small dog, is obviously very easy to steal. Dogs are commonly stolen from outside shops, cars and even back gardens. Please let this be the last time we see such an item on this website - or anywhere else for that matter. Don't leave your dog unattended, even for a moment. It is surely not worth the heartache. |
