| I think you perhaps misunderstood Charlotte's comment, Helen, mine happily spend time in the gardnen on their own when I am here, which is most of the time, and indeed with pigeons and squirrels to keep them amused it is hard to get them in sometimes. I am sure what Charlotte means is when people just leave their dog in the garden for hours on end and go out, or just ignore its cries when it wants to come in because it wants to sit on a soft bed, or is cold, or hungry, or thirsty. I had to go round to someone in the road that backs on to me and leave a note through the door as every Tuesday in the winter, on freezing cold days, a little dog had been shut outside for the day and would howl. It turns out the cleaner, unbeknown to the owner, didn't like dogs and would just shut him out. The howling stopped but the dog is still around so either the cleaner has gone or she now tolerates the dog in the house. |
