I'm amazed that anyone here is amazed. I guess many people combine their weekend errands along the Chiswick High Road (trips to Sainsburys etc) with a walk for the dog...? And if dogs are not allowed into certain shops, well then they have to be tied up outside don't they. People have been doing it for decades - when did it become such a terrible thing?

It's surely not realistic to expect people to make separate trips, one to walk the dog, then another one to go shopping, leaving the dog safely tucked up at home. Or to bring a second person along to guard the dog whilst the owner is pushing a trolley around sainsburys? That's never going to happen. Does anyone really believe it?

And anyway, when did dogs all become such emotionally fragile little petals that they suffer anxiety attacks if they are left on their own for a few minutes outside a shop? I'm sure dogs used to be much hardier than that, and I suspect they probably still are.
