"Installing a fault free signalling system in today's digital age can't be that difficult a task!" Well, it would have helped if TfL selected a product that worked as they initially chose Bombardier back in 2011 for the sub-surface line signalling and it turned out they couldn't get their product to work in London. The contract was then retendered over a year ago but AFAIK they haven't yet finalised a contract with an alternative supplier. And when they do, the priority will be the central section of the District/Circle/H&C/Met lines and the branches to Richmond, Ealing etc will be done last. The original contract to re-signal the sub-surface lines was meant to be complete by the end of 2018 but I'd be surprised if the sections out to Chiswick were completed until 2019 or 2020. |
