| In fact a great deal of halal (and I assume the same for kosher but am not sure) is done with pre-stunning, but this petition is about the killing that is done without. With or without, I believe letting an animal bleed slowly to death whether stunned or not is cruel but if we can at least get stunning implemented in EVERY SLAUGHTERHOUSE - and there is no reason if people want to live in a country which cares about animals as we are supposed to do, that should not happen, that is a first step. My view is that the second step is to get all meat labelled as to whether it is halal or non-halal, so we can choose, including in restaurants, schools and hospitals - many schools now only serve halal, presumably because those who want halal would object if it is not but those of us who do not want halal don't bother. The third step is to ban all halal and kosher killing as Denmark has done but I don't see our vote-seeking governments doing that any time soon. If animals could vote... |
