Another important factor must be that in 2010 there was still a substantial Liberal Democrat vote. Assuming that collapses as it seems to have done elsewhere, that vote will need to go somewhere. In recent months the Greens nationally have been making substantial inroads into the former Lib Dem vote, but will the Green campaign locally be vigorous enough to capitalise on the present mood? If not, it is difficult to see where the Tories are going to make gains to negate the drift to Labour by many disaffected LD voters. |
