| Eva points out that it is getting worse. That maybe due to the time of year and the weather. Forget all about engines and types of aircraft not that more flights is not a factor. It is all down to humidity,air density and cloud cover which changes the noise from the aircraft we hear. The same plane can be at the same altitude,engine thrust and flap degree but it will sound noisier on each given day with density of the surrounding air mass being different. As with take-off the same will apply. Hot days at Heathrow a plane will require a little higher thrust and a very small bit of more runway to take off and the rate of climb is worse. Try standing outside at 5am on a clear summers morning and then do the same on a cold freezing day or when low high dense cloud is a factor. You will notice straight away what i mean. In a nutshell Atmospheric conditions is a big player in noise. |
