Well I can tell you where a huge amount of the Mets budget goes.It's on overtime payments, which are absolutely colossal.I never used to do overtime apart from the compulsory, but some people worked virtually every minute of overtime they could.At Scotland Yard we worked an average of 47 hours a week.That meant some weeks we worked only 28 hours.Because of the staff shortage you could almost guarantee you would be rung on your days off asking you to go in.There was one seargent in particular on the opposite shift to me that earned over £100,000 a year thanks to the overtime, more than twice his basic salary |
