| It's a much better system, without the cut-off points at which you suddenly had to pay a higher rate on the whole purchase price. Obviously, if this is to be fiscally neutral then the more expensive properties must have higher bands. If you bought your terraced house years ago, then it is not you who will have to pay the stamp duty when you sell it! |
