Sight damage from glaucoma can be prevented if diagnosed early. By the time you notice any impairment the damage already done is irreversible. Annual eye tests are free in the UK if you have a family history of glaucoma. Family history or not, make sure you ask your optician for a glaucoma test each time you have your eyes tested.  The glaucoma test should be standard, but not all technicians do it.
