It's a fair cop Tracey - you could interpret what I said as a "theoretical" point! In my defence, in recent years I've found that planning backwards from where I want to get to works really well. In this case, Jenn has made a reasonable request to HH and received no reply. Ramping up the pressure using their own procedures seems to me the most likely way of getting what she wants in the medium to long term. I've had some success with this approach with my freeholder who seems to think they can get away with whatever they want. A detailed look at Loan Valuation Tribunal decisions demonstrated that normal punters like me have a fair bit of power if we follow mandated processes fully. Quite a few of us have won rebates and policy changes from a shyster organisation by following the regulations slavishly. Sadly, an equal number of people assumed that the Tribunal would rule in their favour without putting in the legwork but that did not happen. These are similar to the ombudsman cases, some of which are also worth reading. Overall I was trying to be supportive and suggest a slightly different approach to that which others had put forward. The 2 constituent companies that make up HH will not want too many ombudsman decisions going against them as it looks bad for future tenders but they clearly think they can get away with anything. |
