You may well have evidence to make your statements Chris but from the few cases I have seen on "Can't Pay"very few fit the case on exploiting their situation. Most were just lost in the morass of struggling and trying to make ends meet and understand the legal system. A woman with children and no husband having had her social security cut for co-habitation without any proof presented and evicted for then being unable to pay the rent; a Hungarian couple who after being depicted as villains were seen to being trapped between landlord and sub-tenants for rent due; and recently a poor Bangladeshi family who were still trying to get their belongings back from the first tenancy with the landlord who was then evicting them from the second tenancy. As the enforcement agents repeat the point in most episodes, very few people are winners under the system at present. |
