Golly, am now sorry I started this thread (frankly, with this forum, I normally am). I am deeply concerned for the safety of the children who attend the school, my son, who has additional needs which means he doesn't always take the best care for his own safety, included. I do not believe that it is asking too much for the council to repair existing broken flashing 'school' lights that were clearly installed for a reason - to alert motorists to the fact that hundreds of children cross the road with no priority every school day. Asking politely and lobbying gently with multiple emails (dozens!) to multiple departments, arranging face-to-face meetings with the Traffic Department and begging local councillors for their assistance has yielded absolutely nothing over a nine month campaign. (Thank you to John Todd for replying to this thread and for taking up the baton!) If you are suggesting that I write a letter, cc a hard copy to all relevant parties involved and that will be a better approach, I have already done this - albeit via email - to all of the relevant bodies. Everyone has passed the buck, and passed it, and passed it again. That is why I have turned to you all for help. Power to the people... well, normally! |
