Felicity, my views, in this case, as mostly prejudice and are not based upon strong factual groundings, it was a rant and should not to be taken seriously. I hope what you say is true and that some of the shops I may mention (although do not deliberately) may be the work of truly independent women (or men with a love of things for women). But the short lived nature of some of the shops and the rather specialist nature of the merchandise does make me think that these shops are often more lifestyle choices for affluent women rather than those looking to exploit an untapped market. And the stores that are successful and created with minimal support would naturally and handily not be included in my blanket statements so as to offer no threat of detriment. I can also assure you I am also very employed and contribute quite considerable sums in tax each year. Since leaving higher education I have also had no government paid leisure time, so to speak. Perhaps you prejudice here is stronger than that of my temporary alter ego?
