| We have children leaving school unable to make a sandwich and a cup of tea when they do get a job as a carer - whether part-time as an interim occupation or as a career. There obviously aren't enough carers because the pay is low and there are lots of empty jobs there. Something to think about so good luck if and when you need a carer! Children nowadays can end up with plenty of exam passes and at university with no knowledge of healthy quick and easy to cook meals and unable to even cook mashed potato but very adept at ordering online junk food. Locking people up is most definitely not the answer - since there certainly isn't enough space to lock up people carrying out far worse crimes! I heard someone suggesting the Territorial Army some days ago - I think that should be the CCF? - but having just listened to a programme about the irresponsible behaviour of some of the British Army abroad this morning I'm not so sure that they should be fast-tracked there either. They have some growing up to do first. I completely agree that there used to be two parents in most families but not just that - there also used to be uncles and aunts and cousins living in the same locality so there was an extended family - whereas wars have torn families apart and split them up. I also saw a van recently regarding Community Pay-Back and asking anyone with ideas for jobs these offenders could do to get in touch with them. |
