| The problem with the 'too many cars' argument is that Chiswick High Road, including this stretch has seen a significant decline in this type of vehicle since these changes were introduced but a rise in delays and a decline in average speed. Some may have hoped that evaporation might have resulted but it isn't happening - we are getting displacement. The net result is that the bus fleet is getting slower and slower and, as people abandon the service, a proportion of them will be forced back into cars. |
