| I missed the opportunity to predict that Michael would start the year by being gratuitously rude to his fellow posters and wouldn’t have made a New Year Resolution to be pleasant. I should have also predicted that Felicity would decisively debunk ill-informed nonsense. Michael is right about the bus lanes I was referring to. It is not clear whether he believes that a few hundred metres is too short a length to be bothered with but short hop bus journey times between Chiswick and Hammersmith could be significantly reduced if they were to be reinstated. What I’d been told is that Hounslow remains committed to this plan as it is actually taking seriously concerns of residents badly affected by displaced traffic from the Acton Lane bus gate south of the High Road. The quid pro quo for getting rid of it would be these bus lanes. I hadn’t seen anywhere else that TfL had given a unambiguous thumbs down to this proposal but, even if they had, the latest data on bus speeds and its own targets on increasing the bus lane network is pushing it towards accepting the council’s proposals. On Janice's question - I don't recall a thread like this from 2025 and if there was one, I'm sure all my predictions were 100% accurate :). |
