| “ I always found the WASPI's claim a little hard to take - making women qualify for pensions at the same age as men seemed eminently reasonable” Well the PHSO doesn’t agree with you. “The the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) ruled that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) was guilty of maladministration in its handling of the state pension age changes for women born in the 1950s. The PHSO concluded that the DWP's failure to provide adequate and timely information meant affected women lost opportunities to make informed decisions about their retirement. The PHSO recommended that these women should receive compensation of between £1,000 and £2,950 each (Level 4 on its banding scale), a potential total cost of up to £10.5 billion. “ |
