| 94k a day round the gyratory with the flyover dismantled is a little less than 96k around the gyratory when the flyover was open in 2006 - there's nothing to reroute elsewhere. And the delays might be slightly less, as you suggest. As for HGVs, there's already as many manoeuvring round the gyratory as going straight over the flyover. But in terms of large vehicles, buses on the gyratory dominate, and that certainly won't be affected by closing the flyover. In terms of fatalities, it's the junctions with the slip roads at either end of the flyover that are the black spots, with three fatalities in the last eight years compared to one on the gyratory. They'd be no issue of merging traffic if the flyover was dismantled. I'm not sure why the "wealthy types" are setting your personal transport priorities. |
