| I was surprised to see him come out with such a definitive statement on the matter as there is a lot of reason to be sceptical that a Post Office will ever reopen. An experienced operator couldn't make the business viable and ended up supporting the Post Office with his own money. It therefore seems highly unlikely that another person could be persuaded to take the branch on particularly given Post Office Ltd doesn't own the building or control the rents and can probably only offer rolling short term leases making the return on any investment very uncertain. There doesn't seem to be anyway round this but if Andy Slaughter is being told that there is, what is he supposed to do? Keep it quiet? |
