Wiser heads than mine have said that the local Conservatives will make no deal or electoral pact with Reform before the 2026 local elections. If after the May 2026 Local Authority election Hounslow has a council in which no one party had overall control, we would have to consider our position. This is what we did in 2006. By and large that coalition worked for the period of the administration however the increasingly eratic behaviour of the leadership of the ICG, our coalition partner, made it impossible to go into the 2010 election as partners. The Conservative Group have produced detailed alternative budget proposals at all but one of Hounslow's annual budgeting setting meetings since 2010. By February 2026 we will be able to see if Reform Councillors can produce balanced budgets (as required by law) in the boroughs that they control. As a matter of principle we aim to fight every seat and provide all electors with the opportunity to vote for a Conservative candidate and a properly costed Conservative Manifesto, prepared by local people for local people. Anyone voting Reform is simply making a protest vote and is "buying a pig in poke". If you want a responsive, well run and cost effective council there really is only one choice in LBH - and that is the Conservatives. |
