I'm not entirely sure that the delivery apps make it clear you are ordering from a dark kitchen. It may have changed because I haven't used on for a while but the last time I ordered from them was because I received what appeared to be a generous discount offer. I tried to use it for my favourite local Chinese restaurant which was on the app but it wasn't eligible. The app suggested an alternative 10 minutes away but didn't give an address. Naively we wondered where this restaurant was but googling it didn't give any clues so we presumed it was recently opened having never heard of a dark kitchen at that point.

The food wasn't great so the next time I returned to the app  the intention was to order from my favourite place but it wasn't in evidence and the dark kitchen restaurant was been pushed at me. The local and real place was still there but it took a bit of effort to find them.

Since then we have always ordered direct. I haven't asked if they prefer this way but they always seem delighted to receive our call and often extra treats are added to the order for free.
