| I write as chairman of the William Hogarth Trust(WHT). We have already objected to this block and are disappointed that it appears likely to be given approval. The Hogarth's House registered charity (1010069) which owns the property has one trustee, Hounslow Council. The planning committee needs to take its responsibility for this Grade 1 Listed internationally important artist's house much more seriously. It is complex because of the conflict of interest as both owner and planning authority. Though the House is already hemmed in by low rise domestic buildings, these were a great improvement on the dark brown glass warehouses, lowering over it, which preceded the current properties. The WHT is effectively Hogarth's supporters club and we are already fighting to protect the setting of the millennium statue from the crass behaviour of the vintage market stallholders. We beg Hounslow to protect the views from the Hogarth's House garden as they have been advised. |
