All mass transit systems are publicly funded, London's probably less than most and all city Mayors will lobby for increased investment from government - that's their job.

For those interested in the actual issue here, BBC transport correspondent Tom Edwards is doing a report today in which he says the service should resume later this month and confirms Al's assessment of the situation.
