This closure due to leaves continues which strongly suggests it is a way to manage stretched capacity on the line due to lack of trains rather than the absence of some brushes to sweep the track. As for the suggestion of permanently closing the Piccadilly line branch to Rayners Lane - it is an interesting one but I don't think it would be done in reaction to the current problems which are temporary. My knowledge of these matters is scant but I would guess that if the signalling upgrade is approved but it would add a lot to the cost to implement it on the Rayners Lane branch then the change might be made at that time. |
