| Any closed box made of a conductive metal will act as a Faraday cage though. If the car isn't starting with the key in a box two feet away, then signal will be too weak for their relay to pick up as well - especially if you keep it a decent distance from your front door, and get the inverse square law in your favour on any signal that leaks. Like I said before, you don't want to keep it by the front door anyway. There have been break ins looking for keys on valuable cars, and by the front door is the first place they look. |
