| Well done to local campaign group CRASH for highlight the way that Heathrow are manipulating the consultation process to minimise opposition to their plans. They know already where the flight paths are going to be and that once this information is in the public domain the outcry from those likely to be affected is going to be significant. Not disclosing this information until after the decision is made makes a mockery of the numerous so-called attempts to get the public's views. Heathrow knows that opposition is most intense in this swathe of west London and seem to be doing everything they can to minimise awareness of their plans. I was in High Wycombe at the weekend with friends who said the consultation had been advertised quite extensively in their area which contains a lot of people who work in businesses dependent on the airport. Nothing is been done in this area as far as I can see, no posters, no ads in local media etc. There really ought to be a consultation ombudsman who monitors the way these are handled to ensure that companies like Heathrow don't use every opportunity to manipulate the outcome. |
