http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/feb/17/warsan-shire-young-poet-laureate-michael-gove With a growing life-span in this country there are still men who were born here who were brought up to make all the decisions for the women and children in their family. It may seem a long time for the younger of us but for the older it isn't long since women got the vote, started going to work outside or even were allowed to work once married. Now that more people from the population that this happens to are speaking out it will hopefully be easier to support them in showing how unacceptable and unnecessary FGM is. Let's look at what other countries eg France quoted above are doing and make sure that there is plenty of information so that that teachers who sadly seem to spend so much of their time acting as social workers nowadays are genned up. Knowledge is power. |
