| When asylum-seekers get refugee status, they aren't usually "placed" anywhere. Most of the single people just get some advice from the relevant council. Only people with children, sometimes the elderly (a really small number) and the seriously poorly (again, not a high proportion) are even considered for any sort of placement. Over 90% of those coming in small boats apply for asylum, according to the Home Office. There is a large asylum-seeker hostel in Acton. It causes no problems to the area and many sanctuary-seekers attend Ealing Sanctuary Hub and try to integrate and learn English. |
