I had a quick rescan of the accounts and there didn't seem to be any evidence that these sort of events contribute that much. The failure of Brentford to sweat the asset of the Gtech may have something to do with ownership changes ahead. Matthew Benham has changed his shareholding structure clearly with a view to bringing in new investment. It can't simply be that all of any new money is going in to the transfer fund because the rules make this impractical. One intriguing possibility is that the club is looking to make the area around the ground an entertainment district in a similar way to what is happening at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Etihad. There are a number of sites that could be incorporated including the Fountain Leisure Centre. This would boost the revenue base of the club which is currently restricted by its small ground capacity and allow for year round revenue generation at the site including live music events. |
