You can choose your own definitions if you wish but in context, even if you assume all of Thames Water's land sales were not for reinvestment, they represent a small proportion of overall revenue. At the same time it has made the biggest single investment in water infrastructure in this country since the Victorian era. I don't want to be the advocate for Thames which I am sure is far from a perfect company but painting it as the only villain in what has happened to our water industry let's a lot of others, equally or more blameworthy, off the hook. The starting point to making things better is to accept there simply aren't cheap or quick solutions to the problems. |
