Indeed it was Jimmy Young, altough he did not invent the expression - "With his self-styled “JY prog” on Radio 2 pulling in an audience of nine million, catchphrases such as “Orf we jolly well go” and “TTFN” – his shorthand for, “ta-ta for now” – became national buzzwords and politicians queued up to be interviewed." Apparently JY never forgave Chiswick's own Jeremy Vine for taking over his daily show in 2002. Young was furious at being ousted and rebuffed Vine’s suggestion of a handover lunch – the two never did meet. |
