This "outrageous" service charge is common in many, if not all licenced premises. It is worth remembering that no one is obliged to pay it. Regarding the sale of the Crown, the owners didn't help themselves by taking far too long to get the place up and running, and when they did, lo and behold, China unleashed covid 19 on W4 and the rest of civilisation. Events have proved the undoing for the Crown: many hope the new owners have better luck and maybe bring a bit of the magic Huh Barratt's Carvasso's had. The building itself, the back forecourt, and the front room have style (but not the street furniture degrading the High road). Here's hoping the change of ownership happens soon and the present staff are not discarded. |
