Homefields Ward obviously had visionary local leaders and residents once-upon-a-time. In addition to all of the traffic restrictions listed in this thread it is also a Ward of cul-de-sacs such as Boston Gardens, Dartmouth Place, Thames Crescent, Edensor Gardens, Staveley Gardens, and actual private gated communities such as Corney Reach. Almost everybody in the Ward lives in a LTN. Traffic is restricted to boundary roads for the Ward: A316, Turnham Green Terrace and Goldhawk Road. And only the A4, Chiswick Lane and Bath Road take traffic through the ward itself. Of these Bath Road would be the most obvious candidate to complete what would otherwise be a textbook example of how to create one huge LTN consisting of lots of smaller LTNs. For everybody concerned about the residents east of the A316 who will only be able to drive to a shop, a cafe and a swimming pool without going via the Hogarth Roundabout or out of Chiswick; well spare a thought for the deprivation suffered by the residents of the mansions of Chiswick Mall. They can only access three pubs, a brewery shop and two cafes. And a church which they will need to pray for liberation. For decades they have been imprisoned in Alcatraz-on-Thames. We should start a collection. |
