it was like borstal..with strict masters and the threat of the tawse!
I witnessed many lads being hauled in front of the class and being told to bend over..and some masters seem to have great delight in giving the offered buttocks a good whack or two.
A Mr Hill who lived in Brook Road was one I remember who had this dreadful leather 3 pronged whacker in his desk drawer.
It wasn't sexual thrill I can assure you at that tender age. And of course you couldn't mention it to your parents..in case they gave you another whack..for having been in trouble at school!
