Carl Wynne asked: "Would you care to explain what powers the security guards have? It really won't take very long." Indeed not. They have the power of Citizens Arrest; both in respect of shoplifting and people trying to make a forced entry into say, a Sainsbury store. This power of course is something they share with all members of the public including frail little old ladies of the Mrs Wiberforce type. If you personally are unable to discern any appreciable difference in effectiveness between 5ft 10in 15 stone security guards and frail little old ladies when it comes to making Citizens Arrests, then perhaps you should sit in a darkened room for a little while, and have a bit of a think. You know it makes sense. michael adams ... |
