| Bruce,...glad to see you have an open mind as my tale requires just that. I am not in the buisness of telling exceedingly tall tales even if it could be a bit of a hoot, hey,I really have better things to do with my time. And further more neither am I a small mammel with big ears who only ever entertains children and has a girl friend called Minni.I can totally understand that people have been having a good old hoot at my expense, I would to if The shoe was on the other foot.But as I have said it is for real and I will stand by everything as this did happen and there is no need to exaggerate anything for me.I wasn`t drinking at the time and was of sound mind I have only ever told a couple of family members about what happend because it can be a bit of a jimmy hill event. So when I read about the owls of grove park and the interest it created I thought may be these people might be twitchers and may be have a insight to the local bird scene and possibly witnessed the same giant owl? I have no desire to make my self the centre of peoples amusement especially in chiswick. I am glad to read that you have at least cast some light on the matter and given it a sense of credence. It sounds plausible that it could be a escaped pet or exhibit of some kind. After all we now have exotic parakeats flying around like they have lost their fosters even foxs roam the streets as if they are on a holiday to the big lights fornicating like a porn production is in full swing making the sounds of a woman being murdered.Any how this encounter happened some 15 years ago at about 2-00am as I had just crossed barnes bridge walking towards chiswick when i heard this very loud swoshing which continued to be louder and it totally caught my full attention. I was looking for what was the cause of this sound and i looked up to see this huge owl hoovering above me looking straight at me as if it was checking me out. It then landed about 10 feet away and I could see it in full and I was shocked to see this enormous owl which was 2.5 to 3 feet high, incredible I will never forget the whole experience, truly incredible. So i thought that surely someone else must have seen this bird aswell as me, it has to make sense other people must have seen this. But may be they didn`t which is a shame, maybe it was just passing through who knows. Well there you have it a tale tail but a true one you can laugh you can hoot but I don`t care because I saw it and at least i`m not claiming to have seen E.T. or been abducted? The End...... |
