Giant owls? Boa constrictors? What is going on around here? Trevor I am fascinated by your tale of encountering an enormous hooter. I have myself heard the tawny owls and seen little owls, but nothing to compare with your sighting. Having checked, there is no native owl in the UK of the size you describe; it could only have escaped from captivity, and the most likely candidate would be a eurasian eagle owl. You don't say when your terrifying experience took place - there have been a few newsworthy eagle owl escapes in recent years but the nearest was in the Isle of Wight. Not all the escapees seem to have been accounted for so whooo knows? Now about this Chiswick panther..... |
