I've had a look at the cases to tests ratio nationally: Data sources: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/ https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/testing 7 day averages: cases 13/8 970 7/7 545 tests 13/8 184444 7/7 94284 (I took 7/7 as the start date as this is when the number of cases started a linear increase) cases / tests 13/8 = 970 / 184444 = 5.3 x 10-3 7/7 = 545 / 94284 = 5.7 x 10-3 tests / cases 13/8 = 190 7/7 = 172 i.e. there is not much difference across this 38 day interval. I think this shows that the increase in cases is primarily due to the increase in tests. |
