I don't understand how a coach managed to get through the bollards at all. I thought those double-deck Caetano coaches were at least 2.5m wide, but the flyover is limited to 2.0m width (6ft 6in). The bollards must be set too far apart. I agree that the large sign on the left is rather overburdened with restrictions. But the driver has ignored the width restriction sign right in front of him on the right of the lane (which is signed in both metric and imperial measures) and also the 3 tonne weight restriction. His coach probably weighs 12t or more. That sort of cowboy driving reminds me of the 2007 National Express double-decker crash at the M4/M25 junction which killed 3 passengers and injured more than 60. The driver was convicted of causing three deaths by dangerous driving and jailed for 5 years. |
