Adam, bikes are vehicles. Surprised you of all people don't know that. As for four-wheeled vehicles, they pay for parking. If parked illegally they pay through the nose courtesy of a PCN. When Mobike and the like flood the pavement with their vehicles, they are doing so for the purpose of advertisement. Choose the bright red one. Choose the bright green one. They are pitted against each other to entice users to take up their offering. Absolutely no different than two cafes with A-boards tempting customers. As for Bernard's post, I believe helmets and age restrictions should apply. Kids aren't allowed to wander into a pub and start drinking. Kids cannot buy cigarettes unless they are 18. Rules are put in place to protect them. Perhaps I should say try to protect them. Last night I saw four young boys, about 13, riding abreast in the middle of CHR with one of them riding a wheelie. At dusk. During rush hour. No helmets. No reflectors. No high-vis anything. To me, this is endangering a child. And no, this behavior wouldn't be any better on CS9. This type of behavior could be minimized with basic testing and qualification and deterrence akin to that which applies to other vehicle operation. |
